How Expo learns your taste

Your taste profile is built from the signals you give as you use the app:

• Recipes you save and cook
• Ratings you leave after cooking
• Reactions you give to recipe suggestions (love, maybe, or not for me)
• The dietary preferences you set
• What you search for and ask Expo to make

You don’t manage this directly — it updates quietly in the background as you use Expo. The more you cook and react, the sharper it gets.

What the match score means

Some recipes show a match percentage. That’s Expo’s estimate of how well a recipe fits your taste, based on your profile. A higher percentage means it’s more likely to be your kind of dish.

Match scores are a guide, not a rule. A lower score doesn’t mean you won’t enjoy something — it’s just less aligned with your usual preferences. Trying recipes outside your usual range actually helps Expo learn.

Dietary preferences

If you set dietary restrictions (for example, vegetarian or no dairy), Expo respects them when recommending and generating recipes. You can update these as your needs change.

Cold start

When you’re brand new, Expo doesn’t know much about you yet, so recommendations start broad. They become more personal quickly as you cook and react to a few recipes.
